In this letter from January 28, 1808, Virginia governor William Cabell asks the General Assembly to provide pensions for a list of soldiers injured during the Revolutionary War. Cabell includes Anna Maria Lane, who was injured after disguising herself as a man to fight in the Battle of Germantown in 1777. Lane was one of many women who accompanied their husbands in Continental Army camps.
