In these two articles from the May 13, 1876, edition of the People’s Advocate, there’s an exchange of support between Republican-leaning newspapers that were established during Reconstruction. The People’s Advocate was a Black newspaper founded one month earlier, in April 1876, by Traverse Pinn and John Wesley Cromwell. The Virginia Citizen was also founded in 1876, in Petersburg.
