In his “Plan for liberating the negroes within the united states,” published on December 1, 1790, by the Philadelphia journal American Museum, or, Universal Magazine, Ferdinando Fairfax proposes that enslaved African Americans be freed and colonized in Africa. Some spelling has been modernized.
