Treaty of Paris (1783)

The Treaty of Paris, signed on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolution and formally recognized the United States as an independent nation. The treaty bears the signatures of American negotiators John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay, and British representative David Hartley. The agreement settled terms for the end of the war and defined the boundaries between the United States and British North America.
