Abner Keesee

Abner Keesee of Campbell County posed for this photograph in 1932 after several meetings and recording sessions with Virginia Folklore Society ballad collector Juliet Fauntleroy. One of the ballads Keesee shared, “Far Fanil Town,” is unique to Virginia, and has not been gathered by any other collector of folk ballads.
