A. Q. Franklin Residence

A dirt road leads up to the Charles City County farmhouse home of A. Q. Franklin, a Black member of the Virginia House of Delegates during Reconstruction. Franklin worked as a schoolteacher for the county. Jackson Davis, the Virginia field agent for the General Education Board from 1915 to 1929, took this photograph for a collection documenting Black education in the South.
