Col. Miles Cary of Richneck 1655–1709

Miles Cary, a lieutenant colonel of the Warwick County militia and a member of the House of Burgesses, is the subject of this portrait published in The Virginia Carys; An Essay in Genealogy (1919). Cary lived at Richneck, the Cary family plantation in present day Newport News. The plantation's late-seventeenth-century brick mansion burned down in 1865.
