Colgate W. Darden Jr. and Edgar F. Shannon Jr.

Colgate W. Darden Jr., at right, poses with Edgar F. Shannon Jr. in front of the Rotunda at the University of Virginia in 1960. Darden served as the third president of the university from 1947 until 1959. Shannon succeeded him in that position and served from 1959 until 1974.
