Jeremy Belknap Portrait

Jeremy Belknap, an eighteenth-century New England clergyman and historian, is the subject of this engraved frontispiece for the book Life of Jeremy Belknap, D.D. The Historian of New Hampshire (1847). Belknap died in 1767, and his memoir, which included some of his correspondence and other writings culled by his unnamed granddaughter, was published posthumously.
