Frederick W. M. Holliday

Frederick W. M. Holliday, governor of Virginia from 1878 to 1882, is the subject of this painting by Thomas Cromwell Corner. Holliday lost his right arm during the Civil War after being wounded at the Battle of Cedar Mountain on August 9, 1862.

This portrait, painted in 1897, is part of the Commonwealth of Virginia's art collection.
