Mary-Cooke Branch Munford

Mary-Cooke Branch Munford is the subject of this photograph published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on November 5, 1944. An activist in the post–Civil War era, Munford declared that her driving interests in life were "education for all the people, fostering better knowledge and understanding between the races, and especially the rebuilding of my mother state, Virginia."
