A Way Out of Our Dangerous School Situation

The cover of the self-published pamphlet A Way Out of Our Dangerous School Situation (1958) by Leon S. Dure depicts an open door. Dure used the pamphlet to promote the concept of freedom of choice of association, a plan he thought would provide an "out" for those resisting the court-mandated integration of public schools. It allowed students to choose which school to attend, with white students receiving state tuition grants to attend segregated schools.
