Cactus Hill Excavations (Brian and Lynn McAvoy)

Brian and Lynn McAvoy, members of the archaeological team that excavated the Cactus Hill site in Sussex County, sift through the loamy sand hill in search of artifacts from the Clovis and pre-Clovis ages. The Archeological Society of Virginia excavated the site from 1993 to 2002. This photograph was taken in the mid-1990s.
