Aubrey Ellis Strode
Aubrey Ellis Strode, a lawyer and Democratic politican, is the subject of this photographic portrait made in Richmond in the first half of the twentieth century. Strode drafted the 1924 state law that permitted state-enforced sterilization of those deemed genetically unift for procreation, and successfully defended the law in court.
