President Woodrow Wilson and First Lady Edith Bolling Galt Wilson

In a photograph taken in June 1920, President Woodrow Wilson looks over papers at a desk in the White House while his second wife, Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, stands at his side. The Washington, D.C., firm of Harris & Ewing took the photograph, and the accompanying caption notes that this was the president's first posed picture since he had suffered a stroke in September 1919. Wilson never fully recovered from his illness.
