George Freeman Bragg

Twenty-year-old George Freeman Bragg poses for a photographic portrait in 1883. The previous year Bragg founded the Petersburg Lancet, a weekly newspaper. In 1888 he was ordained a priest at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk, making him only the twelfth Black Episcopal priest in the United States.
