Uncle Tom’s Cabin

In a scene from Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852), the best-selling antislavery novel published by Harriet Beecher Stowe, armed slave catchers with vicious dogs set upon a family fleeing enslavement. A. S. Seer Print company of New York, which specialized in theater posters, produced this colored woodcut in 1882.
