James H. Blackwell School

An unidentified man stands in front of the James H. Blackwell School in Richmond. Originally called the Dunbar School, the combined elementary and junior high school was renamed in 1952 to honor James H. Blackwell, an influential African American educator. Since 1970 it has served as an elementary school.
