The Confessions of Nat Turner, the Leader of the Late Insurrection in Southampton, Va. as fully and voluntarily made to Thomas R. Gray (1831) is a published account of the 1831 revolt of enslaved people in Southampton County led by Nat Turner. While in prison awaiting execution, Turner dictated his confessions to Gray, a Southampton County lawyer. This pamphlet claims to be "an authentic account of the whole insurrection."
