(1907) depict buildings associated with the Independent Order of Saint Luke, an organization dedicated to supporting the social and financial advancement of the black community. From left to right are a building that once housed the Saint Luke Penny Savings Bank; the site of the Saint Luke Emporium; and the home of Maggie Lena Walker, the president of the Saint Luke Penny Savings Bank who served as the grand secretary of the Independent Order of Saint Luke, the highest position in that organization, from 1899 until her death in 1934.
