Governor Doug Wilder’s Inauguration

On January 13, 1990, an enormous crowd gathers to honor Virginia governor L. Douglas Wilder after his inauguration ceremony. The line of well-wishers wound from the steps of the State Capitol in Richmond, through the capitol grounds, and onto Ninth Street as people waited to greet the state's first African American governor.
