For Governor of Virginia Gen. Fitz Lee.
Fitzhugh Lee, a former Confederate general, is portrayed in uniform in an advertisement for his postwar gubernatorial campaign. This engraving was the size of a calling card, roughly two-and-one-half by three-and-one-half inches. In 1877 Lee failed to gain the Conservative Party nomination for governor of Virginia, but in 1885 he won both the nomination of the renamed Democratic Party and the general election.
