State Democratic Ticket in 2005

Virginia governor Mark Warner (far right) joins (from left to right) Virginia state senator Creigh Deeds, Virginia lieutenant governor Tim Kaine, and former Virginia state senator Leslie Byrne—the Democratic ticket in the 2005 state election. The June 18, 2005, event marked the candidates' first public appearance in that year's election cycle, but the party ultimately met with mixed results. Kaine succeeded Warner as governor, but Deeds and Byrne, running for attorney general and lieutenant governor, respectively, each lost close contests.
