John Tayloe II

This 1908 photographic print shows an earlier oil portrait of John Tayloe II, a wealthy Virginia planter and member of the governor's Council. In the mid-eighteenth century Tayloe built a grand Georgian mansion that he called Mount Airy on the family plantation along the Rappahannock River in Richmond County.
