The Minutes and Proceedings of the Colored Shiloh Baptist Association, of Virginia records the establishment of that organization, a union of individual black congregations in central Virginia, on August 11, 1865, just after the end of the Civil War. As the title page notes, the founding group "Assembled At Ebenezer Church, Richmond," and the minutes were subsequently printed in that city.
