This watercolor-and-ink painting of George and Martha Washington is a circa-1780 example of fraktur, a form of folk art created by the Pennsylvania Dutch. The stiff figures are identified in script as "Ledy Waschingdon" and "Exselenc Georg General Waschingdon."
