Postcard of Moore Street Baptist Church

This 1958 postcard celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of Moore Street Baptist Church (also known as Moore Street Missionary Baptist Church) at its W. Leigh Street, Richmond, location. Organized in 1875 on Moore Street, the church relocated to W. Leigh Street in 1908.

The insert photograph depicts Dr. Gordon Blaine Hancock, the pastor then celebrating the thirty-third anniversary of his tenure. Hancock was also a professor at Virginia Union University and a noted writer and African American activist.
