Natural Bridge

In this mid-nineteenth-century watercolor by Lewis Miller, a group of sightseers in Rockbridge County visit the geological formation known as the Natural Bridge. Miller, a native of Pennsylvania, traveled extensively in Virginia and painted what he saw. This was one of a number of Miller's sketches that were later gathered and bound into a book called Sketchbook of Landscapes in the State of Virginia.
