Julia Magruder

Julia Magruder, born in Charlottesville, was the author of sixteen novels, many short stories, and a number of essays on social issues. Many of her novels follow a heroine who must overcome slight obstacles to marry her true love; in her essays, she often rose to the defense of southern culture from its perceived northern critics, while seeking to mend rifts between the two.
