William Allan

Lieutenant Colonel William Allan, chief of ordnance of the Second Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, and member of Confederate general Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson's staff, poses for a Civil War–era photograph. This oval image is a detail from a larger composite photograph that shows Jackson surrounded by his staff officers. The composite was created by Vannerson & Jones, a Richmond photographic firm that specialized in reprinting images of Confederate leaders in the immediate aftermath of the war.
