Mary Willing Byrd

Mary Willing Byrd, the wife of William Byrd III and the inheritor of the Byrd family estate of Westover, in Charles City County, is the subject of this painting by Matthew Pratt made about 1773. The Philadelphia-born Pratt was a well-known portraitist in the colonial era.
