Anti-Whig Party Political Cartoon
An 1840 woodcut print satirizes the Whig Party and its efforts to manipulate the image of U.S. presidential candidate William Henry Harrison. This rare cartoon portrays two influential Whigs, Virginia congressman Henry A. Wise (right) and Kentucky senator Henry Clay as they pull the strings of a "dancing-jack" toy figure of Harrison in military uniform. The image is entitled THE POLITICAL DANCING JACK: A Holiday Fit For Sucking Whigs!!
