300th Anniversary Celebration of the Founding of Jamestown

Warships, sailing vessels, and an overhead zeppelin parade past the grounds of the Jamestown Ter-Centennial Exposition, an international fair that took place in Norfolk from April 26 to November 30, 1907, and celebrated the 300th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown and the Virginia colony. At the invitation of President Theodore Roosevelt, fifty ships from eight major powers came to Hampton Roads harbor for the event. This painting by Edward Biedermann, titled 300th Anniversary Celebration of the Founding of Jamestown, may depict Virginia Day during which a grand parade of ships took place.
