1873 Republican Ticket

This broadside lists some of the Republican candidates running for office in the upcoming November 4, 1873, state election. The ticket was headed by Robert W. Hughes for governor, Charles P. Ramsdell for lieutenant governor, and David Fultz for attorney general. The opposing Conservative Party candidates won the election: James L. Kemper for governor, Robert E. Withers for lieutenant governor, and Raleigh T. Daniel for attorney general. The Conservative Party scored a huge victory overall in 1873 and both houses of the General Assembly were dominated by Conservative members.
