Cliveden in Buckinghamshire, England
This is a partial view of Cliveden, the ancestral estate in Buckinghamshire, England, that was the country home of Virginia-born Nancy Astor and her second husband, the 2nd Viscount Astor. Lady Astor was elected to the British House of Commons in 1919 and was the first woman to take a seat in Parliament. (The previous year, an Irish Republican woman had been elected to serve, but she did take her seat in the House of Commons to conform with her party's policy of abstention.)
