Reverend Timothy Dwight

Reverend Timothy Dwight, the eighth president of Yale College, is the subject of this 1817 painting by John Trumbull. Dwight was in the last year of his presidency when this portrait was executed. In addition to his educational career, Dwight was an influential Congregationalist minister, theologian, and Federalist leader in Connecticut.
