Lucy Ann Smith Tucker

Lucy Ann Smith Tucker, the subject of this miniature watercolor-on-ivory portrait made circa 1840, wears a lace cap and collar, gold hoop earrings, and a gold broach. Tucker was the third wife of the law professor and writer Beverley Tucker; she married him when she was seventeen years old. This miniature, which is part of the collections at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, is believed to have been given to Lucy Tucker's sister as a gift.
