Chatham
Chatham, a Georgian-style mansion built by William Fitzhugh between 1768 and 1771, is located in Stafford County, on the banks of the Rappahannock River overlooking Fredericksburg. A large plantation dependant upon enslaved labor, Chatham was the site of a slave rebellion in 1805 that resulted in the deaths of three enslaved men and the deportation of two others.
