Willis A. Hodges

Willis A. Hodges, elected to represent Princess Anne County at the Convention of 1867–1868, stands facing the illustrator on the floor of the Capitol in Richmond. Hodges's prominent eyeglasses led newspaper reporters to refer to him as Specs Hodges or Old Specs Hodges. This is a detail from an engraving of a working session of the constitutional convention published in the February 15, 1868, edition of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.
