Mouth Harp Used by an Enslaved Person at Montpelier

This is a three-dimensional rendering of an iron alloy mouth harp that would have been used by a member of the enslaved community at Montpelier, the Orange County plantation that belonged to James and Dolley Madison. This instrument, probably created by a skilled Black blacksmith on the plantation, was found during excavations of the area where the the enslaved lived at Montpelier.
