Remains of Sir George Yeardley

This grave, excavated in 2018 by archaeologists from Historic Jamestowne and Preservation Virginia, is believed to hold the remains of Sir George Yeardley, who served as deputy governor (1616–1617), governor (1619–1621), and royal governor (1626–1627) of the Virginia colony. Yeardley was buried in the church at Jamestown. Further tests are pending to confirm that the remains are his.
