Philip St. George Cocke

Philip St. George Cocke, a wealthy plantation owner in Powhatan County and in Mississippi, is the subject of this portrait by the French-born artist Louis Mathieu Didier Guillaume. Cocke served briefly in the Civil War before committing suicide on December 26, 1861.
