Nathaniel Venable

Nathaniel Venable, a prominent planter, politician, and businessman in Prince Edward County, is the subject of this life-sized oil portrait. Venable inherited the Longwood plantation near Farmville and with his wife raised nine children there. The house now serves as the home of the president of Longwood University.
