William Styron

William Styron, Virginia-born novelist and essayist, is the subject of this photograph by a staff photographer from the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Styron won the 1967 Pulitzer Prize for The Confessions of Nat Turner (1966), a novel based on the historical Nat Turner who, in August 1831, led a slave revolt in Southampton County.
