A Speech against the Alien and Sedition Acts

This is the title page of a published speech delivered in 1798 by the orator James Ogilvie, in which he called upon the General Assembly to seek the repeal of the Alien and Sedition Acts. In this speech Ogilvie argued that the Alien and Sedition Acts, if not repealed, "will abridge the wealth, arrest the progress, tarnish the moral glory, stigmatize the national character, and violate the grandest and most important duties of the American people."
