Charles Cortez Abbott, the first dean of the business school at the University of Virginia, is the author of this reprinted article titled "Commercial Banking as a Business," which was originally published in The Bankers Magazine in the summer of 1964. Abbott served as dean of the business school from 1954 until 1972.
