Berry Hill Plantation

An unidentified group, probably members of the James Coles Bruce family, pose in front of Berry Hill, a Greek Revival mansion in Halifax County. An African American servant or slave holds a bucket at left. Modeled after the Parthenon, Berry Hill was completed in 1844 and is considered the purest example of Greek Revival architecture in Virginia.
