Crozet Tunnel Opening

Two men, perhaps soldiers, stand at attention in front of Crozet Tunnel, one of four single-track railroad tunnels bored through the Blue Ridge Mountains in the mid-nineteenth century. This image was published in a thirteen-page compilation titled Claudius Crozet; His Story of the Four Tunnels in the Blue Ridge Region of Virginia (1917).
