Turin, Italy

This 1905 colorized print offers a scenic view of Turin, Italy, on the banks of the Po River. The domed building at the end of the bridge is the Church of the Mother of God, and the structure on the hilltop overlooking the town is the Mount of the Capuchin Monks. From 1814 until 1861, Turin served as the capital of the Kingdom of Sardinia. After the creation of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861, the city served briefly as country's capital.
