Will of Thomas Ludwell
This is a duplicate copy of Thomas Ludwell's will, signed and sealed on November 10, 1676, in Somerset, England. Ludwell left all of his "lands and … other estate" in Virginia to his brother Philip Ludwell and his heirs. In the event that Philip should die before he did, Thomas bequeathed all of his Virginia holdings to his niece and nephew, with the exception of thirty pounds sterling that he left to the vestry of Bruton Parish in Williamsburg to be used in the construction of a church. He also left ten pounds for the poor of the parish.
